Since January, it has been a journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning as we considered 15 dimensions of growth or what we can call the 15 immutable laws on which growth rests based on John C Maxwell’s “15 Invaluable Laws of Growth.”
The summary of these laws is as follows.
1. Law of intentionality (Be intentional about your growth)
2. Law of awareness (Have a sense of awareness. You must know thyself to grow thyself)
3. Law of the mirror (See yourself from the right paradigm)
4. Law of reflection (Learn to take a step back to assess your progress)
5. Law of consistency (Stay consistent)
6. Law of environment (Understand the role of environment in the growth process)
7. Law of design (Develop the strategies for growth)
8. Law of pain (Learn from your pain)
9. The Law of the Ladder (Emphasizes the need to build a foundation of solid character)
10. The Law of the Rubber band (If you are not stretching yourself, you are not growing)
11. The Law of the Trade Offs (There is an opportunity cost for everything. To achieve your full potential, you must be ready to sacrifice something)
12. The Law of curiosity (To keep growing, you need to be thirsty about knowing more. Growth is fueled by questions)
13. The Law of Modeling (Mentors are vital in helping us grow faster)
14. The Law of Expansion (There is always room to do more and be more)
15. The Law of Contribution (In your journey of growth, lend a helping hand to others as well)
As the scripture says “But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great (Luke 6:49).” It is not enough to have the head-knowledge of these Laws. The clarion call is that we take active steps on them and let these laws perpetuate the depths and heights of growth we need to withstand the highs and lows of life.
